Girls’ Brigade (GB) is a membership organisation that specialises in working with churches to provide fun and inspiring local groups, where girls and young women can belong, achieve and discover different outlooks on life in the modern world.
These groups are primarily for girls and young women, aged 4 to 18, and meet most weeks of the year in safe and friendly environment.
Our group based in Northfield Baptist Church, Birmingham, has been active for 85 years (2018), and has seen many girls flourish, becoming mature adults who have gone onto build fulfilled lives.
Our leadership team brings many skills to Brigade, allowing a fully committed programme for the girls to follow, this includes many extra activities that we are able to attend, giving many of the girls opportunities that they wouldn't normally get.
All our leaders are DBS checked and have completed Safeguarding, Food Hygiene and First Aid.
"Whenever you encounter GB we hope you'll recognise our values being lived out in the way we engage with young people, the way we care for one another; speak to each other and generally go about our ministry. Throughout the year GB adds value to the lives of thousands of girls and young women"
Ruth Gilson, former National Director, GB England & Wales.
Girls’ Brigade exists thanks to the support of its members past and present. As we are an entirely voluntary organisation we have to be self supporting financially, and this Company is run by volunteer Leaders. Each year around half of our budget comes from subscription fees, which we try to keep as low as possible so that we remain accessible to all, these can be paid weekly or in advance, the cost is split into subs and insurance.
However, we rely on the generosity of others in order to fund the remainder of our costs. If you’re in a position to support our work financially and would like to give a one-off or regular donation, or if you are in a position to help out with donations of items that we can sell, or use, when we do various fundraising events for the girls extra activities, please contact us.
